Panacet

Panacet is a narcotic pain reliever. It is a mixture of the drugs hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Other trade names for Panacet include Lortab, Norco and Vicodin. These drugs are prescribed for moderate to severe pain. Panacet addiction treatment is becoming more prominent as the problem of opiate abuse grows. Often, patients are prescribed these drugs for legitimate purposes and may develop an addiction to them over time.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, from 1994 to 2004, the number of people who were admitted to treatment programs across the United States with a primary problem with opiates other than heroin increased from 14,197 to 60,017.

Panacet Detox

panacetThe primary step in Panacet addiction treatment is detoxification. This is the process by which the body rids itself of the drug. Because addicts are physically dependent on the drug, the body experiences withdrawal symptoms. Panacet is an opiate, and the symptoms of withdrawal for it are similar to those of any other opiate. Users going through Panacet detox can expect any or all of the following symptoms:

  • Agitation
  • Inability to sleep
  • Runny nose
  • Sweating
  • Tremors
  • Hot and cold flashes
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Body aches
  • Abdominal cramping

In an addiction treatment facility, the detox process is made easier thanks to the assistance of medical staff members. They will monitor patients throughout the detox process, ensuring they remain safe during it. Oftentimes, antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications are given during Panacet detox to mitigate feelings of sadness and depression that often occur.

Addiction Treatment and Aftercare

rehabAfter the detox process if complete, the addict will enter rehabilitation. This addresses the issues that led to the abuse of Panacet and helps the addict to learn new ways to cope with life’s stressors without returning to drug use. Group therapy is often a vital part of rehab, as addicts can learn from each other and offer vital support during recovery.

Aftercare is a crucial component of treatment. Once an addict has left rehab and returned to their home environment, the temptation to relapse will often be great. Aftercare, in the form of ongoing counseling, 12-step meeting attendance, or other rehabilitative therapies, can be key to keeping the recovering addict focused on sobriety and health.
