Kadian

The drug Kadian is classified as a narcotic opiate analgesic. This drug is also known as morphine. It’s used to treat moderate, severe and chronic pain in patients, and it can be quite addictive. Kadian works to interrupt pain signals from the central nervous system to the brain.

prescription drug abuseABC News reports that the United State uses approximately 80 percent of the world’s opiate supply. This leaves many Americans at risk of becoming addicted to Kadian and other opiates. Finding a Kadian detox center is important if you’re concerned you may have an addiction, or if you know someone who does.

How Addiction Begins

Few people start out with the intention to become addicted to Kadian. Instead, they might start using the drug recreationally. Over time, their body builds up a tolerance to the drug’s effects, so the same dosage no longer produces the same results. The individual may then start increasing their dosages, chasing the initial high. Eventually, Kadian might be all the person thinks about and they may experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop taking the medication. Addiction has then set in.

Signs of Addiction

Potential side effects of continued Kadian use include:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Constipation
  • Disorientation
  • Irritability
  • Muscle aches
  • Sweating
  • Chills

If you notice these signs of addiction to kadian in someone you love, talk to them. If they are not responsive to your inquiries and you feel they may be addicted, it might be time to schedule an intervention.

Kadian Rehab Facilities

rehabAddicts are under medical supervision 24/7 while in an inpatient detox program. Since Kadian is an opiate drug, medications are often prescribed during the detox process to mitigate withdrawal symptoms. There is no access to Kadian inside the detox facility, unlike the situation that would exist if the addict was at home battling addiction on his or her own.

Withdrawal is sometimes considered incredibly difficult but it is not rehab in and of itself. The addict must continue with therapy after detox in order to address the root causes of the drug abuse and addiction issues.

Addiction care after Kadian detox comes in many forms, such as inpatient or outpatient treatment, traditional or holistic programs, and support groups and long-term rehab. Treatment plans should be catered specifically to the addict in care, and amendments should be made as needed according to the individual’s progress through treatment.
