I left Lakeveiw after 54 days, on January 13th, 2015. My life has been all about recovery ever since. I had a relapse after 10 months but got myself right back up and knew what I had to do. That was December 14th, 2015. I've been free from active addiction ever since. There is so much work that goes into my recovery but it's worth it. I have 2 children who have there father. I have a family who has their son, brother, cousin, and uncle back. Just to get a glimpse of what my life is like today, I'm chair and secretary for a Friday night 12 step group, I hold a position in 12 step Area service, I'm a board member of Great Bear Recovery Collective a group dedicated to building a recovery community, I'm a certified recovery coach for NCADD, I'm a peer support for the re-entry coalition which helps people coming out of incarceration who have substance use disorder, I'm a licensed chemical dependency counselor technician and working toward becoming a chemical dependency counselor. Life is still really hard and I have to fight this disease daily but it's all worth it because there are moments that are so good, I have hope today and I'm happy. I thank whatever is out there than is bigger than me for helping me along the way and of course thank you to Lakeview and it's staff.
