As someone who spent ~4 months there, all I can say is that it is pretty terrible there. I say this, not just because i went there against my will, but because of how kids were treated and how they chose to go about controlling the kids. Anytime a kid made a scene, they were almost immediately sedated. This was done so often that the staff made up a nickname for it, "booty-juice." And the one resident who never got it was twice as violent and disruptive as the rest of us. I spent the first three months there butting heads with my therapist, because she was belittling my feelings for a man and refused to hear my side. It was only when the hall was on the brink of a riot, that they sat me down and offered a new therapist, who actually listened to how I felt and worked with me. The staff and nurses there were pretty great, save for a few. My only issues were with management, and my first therapist. But I digress.

My son was a resident at this facility. He has many behavioral issues that were not addressed. His therapist did not communicate with us well, missed numerous sessions without calling. The therapist reported to us that he was doing well, when in fact we found out he had been in numerous fights with peers and staff. Also he was failing school. I'm not defending our son as he has many problems and chooses to make questionable decisions. Acadia was going to send him home even when he was not stabilized and only gave us 2 days notice, they didn't have a discharge plan in place when in fact we discussed this with his therapist when our son first arrived. We put our foot down and reluctantly they extended his stay. Then they transported our son to another facility without consent or notifying us! The only reason we found out was the other facility called us the next day! Acadia has been a disappointing experience for our family , they have dropped the ball on our son and hope this will not happen to another family. There was no communication between the Doctors, therapists, and our family! In many ways they failed! Seems like they didn't want to deal with our son and looked to pass him on to someone else.
