    These two terms describe a person who is not only addicted to drugs or alcohol, but also has a mental or emotional illness, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. Facilities that treat patients with dual-diagnosis or co-occurring disorders provide psychiatric treatment in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation services.

  • Jess Beck
    Jess BeckClinical Director, LCSW
    Jessica comes to Ascend with over 10 years of experience in mental health treatment with both adolescents and adults. As the former Acting Director of the Addictive Behaviors Clinic at the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center, she developed expertise in the field of evidenced-based addiction treatment. At the VA medical center, Jessica trained colleagues on therapeutic practices and provided treatment to hundreds of at-risk veterans. Jessica also gained extensive experience in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and trauma while working at medical facilities, community-based outpatient programs, and a residential treatment center. Jessica is passionate about helping her clients identify their personal values, strengthen their resiliency, and learn ways to effectively manage emotions. Her therapeutic approach is holistic in nature and builds upon her client’s strengths to help them live a full and meaningful life. Jessica received her Masters in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California.
  • Linslee Egan
    Linslee EganPsychiatrist
    Dr. Egan studied neuroscience at the University of Texas before moving on to medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). After having her first child at the end of medical school, she became interested in child behavior and development, and pursued residency and Child and Adolescent fellowship at UCLA, specializing in the early diagnosis and treatment of childhood disorders and working with families to improve communication and relationships in order to help children thrive. Since her early training, Dr. Egan has devoted part of her work to low-income community clinics in the Los Angeles area.
