Back2Basics offers an alternative approach to traditional 30-day substance abuse treatment programs. Back2Basics provides clients with a six-month inpatient experience designed to expose individuals to real life activities while undergoing treatment. Located in beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona, the residential rehab also offers an outdoor adventure program designed to build valuable life skills, boost self-esteem, and show clients that a sober lifestyle can be rewarding and fun.

Specialization

  • 12-Step

The term “12 Step Program” describes a way to recover from addiction that is based on the model developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. Many drug and alcohol treatment centers base their treatment on 12 steps – the first three of which are situational, the next four addressing the practical issues created by the addiction, followed by two steps focused on making amends for hurting others. Steps 10 and 11 involve a deeper examination of the previous steps and the final step is focused on helping others avoid and recover from addiction.
  • Holistic Therapy

Facilities that offer “holistic therapy” see and treat patients in the context of their entire lives and health status. They treat the “whole person,” not just the addiction.

We really wish we knew then what we know now. Had we been more informed about the reality of this program we wouldn’t have chosen Back2Basics for our son’s rehabilitation needs. You can imagine our dismay and disappointment when we learned that most of the services advertised on the website and listed on the weekly schedule were not actually offered to our son. Prior to our son’s admission we had several conversations with the owner, Roy, and even mentioned that after careful review of the website and reading about what was offered, we were convinced this place would be a good fit for our son. Roy had ample opportunity to tell us that most of the benefits and programs listed on the website were no longer being offered, but instead he didn’t say a word. Therefore, we were led to believe our son would be participating in things like Tai Chi, Martial Arts, Yoga, Education and Life Skills, Culinary and Nutrition, Gardening, Career Counseling, Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Canoeing, and White Water Rafting, just to name a few. Unfortunately, this was not the case at all, and we paid tens of thousands of dollars for services we did not receive. We are extremely disappointed with the experience we had with Roy and Back2Basics and cannot, in good conscience, recommend this program.
