One of the first residential substance abuse treatment programs for adolescent girls in the United States, Caritas Arts takes a family-oriented approach to treating substance abuse in adolescent girls. Parental participation is mandatory. Treatment includes individual, group and family therapy, along with after-care planning, case management, relapse planning and monitoring services.

This term describes one-on-one therapy, in which a patient and trained counselor, social worker, psychologist or psychiatrist meets privately with a patient to discuss challenges related to lifestyle, work, family and romantic relationships that may have contributed to the development of an addiction.

Maureen DonnellyCaritas DirectorMaureen is the Director of Caritas, Inc. In this role she is responsible for the day to day operation of the organization. Working with the President and Board, Maureen designs, develops and implements the organization’s strategic and operating plans. Maureen received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology for Rhode Island College and a Masters Degree of Public Administration from University of Rhode Island. Maureen began working at Caritas’s parent company, Gateway Healthcare, Inc., starting in 1986 as a mental health counselor in the adult residential programs. Since then she has held various positions within the behavioral healthcare continuum. She is currently the Director of Children’s Residential Services and Family Outpatient.
Maryanne DeBalsiClinical Manager, Caritas HouseMaryAnne joined the Caritas team in 1996 after serving as an intern during her senior year in college. In 2002 she became Clinical Manager. Maryanne earned her Bachelor of General Studies and Master of Science in Human Development & Family Studies degrees from the University of Rhode Island. Maryanne is licensed Therapist in Marriage & Family Practice and Chemical Dependency. She is internationally certified as an Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor and is a Co-Occurring Disorders Professional.
