I recently did a"stint" at chrysalis house in order to get addiction treatment and to get my 4 month old daughter back. They basically treat you like you're in jail but with smoke breaks and they help you reunite with your children. The employees are not very nice and you barely have any freedom while you're there. The mother's and children program is terrible and the children who are there are not well behaved at all and the mothers aren't much better, they don't discipline their children at all and they run around out of control. The program itself is not good either they treat you like you're in jail and tell lies about how they want to help you stay sober. It's basically like high school and if you get in a disagreement with staff or other clients they punish everyone for the other person's actions. I suffer from epilepsy and before I got to chrysalis house I'd had one seizure in the last year, but during the 3 months I was there I had 7 seizures in 3 months and it took them almost a month to get the dosing of my medicine correct to prevent seizures from happening and they didn't want to be responsible for my seizures occuring after I got my 4 month old daughter back in my custody I had 3 or 4 seizures after she arrived the last 2 were back to back and it took them less than 8 hours to put my daughter back in foster care as they didn't want to be held responsible if something happened the staff wasn't understanding at all about my condition nor did they know what to do when I would have a seizure also they allowed me very limited contact with my husband and mother and because of how they treated me knowing I have epilepsy I have physical scars from having seizures while there because staff didn't know how to handle it and I wasn't treated like I should've been in my condition the place almost seems like a cult with the goal of mind control and now Everytime I see a butterfly I will be reminded of the horrible treatment I received at chrysalis house I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy when I finally got home my husband told me that he had told my mother that I probably would've been better off in jail as they wanted me to have as little contact with my family as possible while at the same time basically trying to brain wash you and had the environment similar to a cult at least when you're in jail they actually don't care about you they don't lie and pretend they care about you

There's no way this program is a good program like certain people think. Very racist staff that works there. They are way too controlling over the females in the program. When one female does something wrong all the females has to be punished. the staff will even lie in court rooms to get these females in trouble cause they aren't or don't want to be in their program and they won't get paid their insurance money. When a female supposed to be completely their program they say they need more work and have to stay longer just to get more money from the insurance companies. this place so not be recommended for no one seeking treatment

Their expectations are high. It’s tough . They tell you up front it’s difficult. Lots don’t make it. They teach them about consequences. Even girls that had consequences still sang the praises of the staff and facilities. Sometimes family is a trigger for an addict so the distance from family is understandable. Chrysalis House does not just treat the symptoms. The find out the problem that triggers the addict taking their abuse of choice. Who is better experienced and have been addicts themselves. They can spot the lies an manipulation attempts. Unless something unexpected happens I feel my daughter is in good hands.

Frankly I was disappointed, as a parent of an addict, I very much felt left in the dark, what started out as on phone family counseling ended, sorry I disagree with your methods, I have dealt with 2 drug addicts, im not exactly dumb, I also feel mixed messages are sent to those that have children, but do not have custody of them due to their bad choices, my daughter begged me to give her the children,im so glad I didnt! since she is no longer there , I dont get court ordered and then you just let her walk out! I just do not feel this place is family oriented, remember drug addiction is a family disease, it affects everyone, I think rehabs tend to lose sight of that, and the staff is very rude, another thing that needs to be worked on, my daughter had many issues going on, I have a problem with dual diagnosis , mental illness needs to be a part of the recovery process .
