Desert Hope Treatment Center remains open and committed to providing critical addiction treatment during the Coronavirus pandemic. Additionally, Desert Hope is working with Addiction Labs of America to test all patients for COVID-19.

Located beside the Las Vegas National Golf Course in southern Las Vegas, Desert Hope Treatment Center offers a full spectrum of treatments for adults struggling with chemical dependency or dual diagnoses, including medical detox, residential treatment, and outpatient care. The facility is owned by American Addiction Centers, a major chain of rehabs with facilities around the United States, and the owner of Rehabs.com.

The outpatient facility, located a few blocks from the residential center, offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP), offered at 54.5 percent of Nevada-based rehabs, and standard outpatient care.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

This center's programs are offered as either a step-down from more intensive care — for instance at Desert Hope's nearby residential facility — or an entry into treatment. In general, Desert Hope uses a multidisciplinary program that combines evidence-based practices, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), a modality utilized at 53.2 percent of Nevada facilities, with optional 12-step participation.

At the outpatient center, each client is assigned a primary therapist. Most treatment is carried out in the settings of individual and group therapy, where clients discuss their personal progress and goals and receive skill- building instruction for recovery.

Families are encouraged to participate in treatment when appropriate, either via webcam or in-person. All clients also have the opportunity to engage in recovery-oriented challenge therapy, which includes a ropes course, hiking, rock climbing, and team sports. Medical and psychiatric sessions can be arranged as appropriate.

Clients begin preparing for aftercare at the beginning of treatment, to ensure that they leave with a solid discharge plan.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Desert Hope, as a whole, employs an MD, a master's-level counselor, and nurses, but it's unclear from the facility's website which of these are stationed at the outpatient center. The four outpatient alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date on the staff were impressed with their aptitude.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

All nine alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date gave positive feedback for the facility. In the only pieces of criticism, alum Eric wrote that some staff members had "Hot Heads" and the physical facility "wasn't the best" — however, like most other alumni, Eric praised the center's effective programming and caring staff.

In particular, many reviewers noted how much they had learned from the staff. "I learned so much from the staff there and it was very helpful that many of the great staff members had been in my position before," Letitia wrote in a representative review.

Others noted that the tools they acquired at Desert Hope helped them to achieve lasting sobriety. "They gave me a beautiful place to begin my healing and made sure I was set up with a plan and a group of doctors to come home to," Dawn wrote in one such comment. The four alumni polled on the facility's offerings in a variety of treatment metrics were impressed by its counseling options and family participation, though offered more moderate ratings concerning holistic offerings.

Desert Hope had mostly positive feedback on secondary sites at the time of this writing, with average ratings of 4.7 out of five stars based on 34 reviews on Google and 4.6 stars based on nine opinions on Facebook, which the facility may manage. Like alumni polled by Rehabs.com, the reviewers repeatedly praised the center's caring staff and noted that they had learned a lot at the center. "The people were very friendly. Very positive atmosphere. I learned a lot of information here to better help me in my recovory. Highly recommended!!!!" Ryan wrote in a representative review on Facebook.

FINANCING

Desert Hope accepts private insurance, which is accepted at 75.3 percent of Nevada facilities, and private pay. The facility also offers payment plans for uninsured clients. The four individuals polled by Rehabs.com on the matter approved of the center's cost.
