ABOUT FOUNTAIN HILLS RECOVERY

Located in a commercial district in the desert town of Fountain Hills, 30 miles northeast of downtown Phoenix, Ariz., Fountain Hills Recovery is one of the 145 (40.5%) private treatment centers in the state, offering residential (a service at just 22.9% of Arizona facilities) and outpatient care for individuals struggling with substance misuse.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Residential treatment is offered in increments of 30, 60, or 90 days, and the facility also offers a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP).

Fountain Hills Recovery’s website emphasizes the individualized nature of treatment. Tailored treatment plans are put together from a combination of 12-step participation, implemented by 221 treatment facilities across the state, individual and family therapy, goal setting, relapse prevention, and unspecified alternative therapies.

The center’s Psychology Today listing also details evidence-based therapies provided at the facility, including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Another integral part of the program is skill-building for sobriety through working with a personal coach to develop coping skills, recognize triggers, and build a sober support network.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

According to the facility’s website, staff have first-hand knowledge of addiction. Additionally, in Arizona, 99.7% of substance abuse treatment facilities have continuing education requirements for staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The center operates a primary clinic and two separate living facilities, each a short drive from the treatment center. The living facilities are spacious and luxurious, offering shared or private bedrooms, infinity pools, large yards, exercise equipment, a Jacuzzi, a home theater, and full kitchens, plus more than 17,000 square feet of floor space between the two homes. On-site chiropractic care can be arranged.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The sole alumni to respond to polled metrics through Rehabs.com to date gave five-star ratings across most categories, including treatment effectiveness, exercise and leisure options, family participation, counseling options, and affordability. The former client, N.W., gave five stars to staff level of experience and training as well, commenting that "One on One attention" was a facility strength and adding, "The staff was so helpful and accommodating to me in my recovery."

N.W. remained "neutral" when surveyed about whether or not the facility strictly follows the 12-step program. The only facility weakness this alum noted was that "every once in a while clients get special treatment," but remarked that this was because "The owner is very compassionate."

Two more former clients left comments on Rehabs.com without providing any facility ratings. K.R. expressed similar satisfaction with the staff, writing, "The therapist are world class and truly care about you." M.B., on the other hand, referred to the treatment and the staff as "unprofessional."

Secondary review sites yielded unanimously positive coverage, with 4.6 average stars from 10 reviewers on Google to date.^[1] The reviews repeatedly praised the center’s staff, amenities, and program. “After many years of struggling and multiple treatment centers I was blessed to find myself at Fountain Hills Recovery. The people and the program are amazing, they really helped me get back on my feet and my life back on track,” A.B.W. wrote in a representative review on Google. The only individual to give below five stars critiqued, "no phones, no visitors."

Similarly on Yelp, seven users generated a four-star average at the time of this writing.^[2] Praise for staff was common, and many reviewers touched on the fact that staff members had been in treatment themselves and were therefore more relatable. The phone policy was again touched on by one former client as a criticism.

FINANCING

According to the facility’s website, Fountain Hills Recovery is amongst th 62.6% of Arizona facilities that accept insurance from a variety of providers, including Aetna, AmeriHealth, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, and United. The center does not indicate whether it is in-network with any insurers.
