“My heart has always been to help the hungry, the needy, and the homeless. I’ve volunteered with the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen; on the Board of the Brewster Center; assembled furniture for GAP Ministries; Gospel Rescue Mission’s Adopt-A-Room and currently serve as President of their Board of Directors.” Irene added, “It is such a privilege to serve with Godly servants and constantly witness His work at the Mission. Over and over again we have witnessed God’s faithfulness and reassurances that He is always in control and continues to sit on the throne”.

“The work of the Gospel Rescue Mission provides the transformation and healing that we most need. As a pastor I believe it is critical that the Christian churches of Tucson support and work in partnership with Christ-centered missions of healing and hope — we are one in Christ — and Christ commissions us to bring cold water to the thirsty, shelter and clothing to the naked and poor, and the gospel of salvation to all! As I serve and work at the mission and on the Board — I get to see the smiling face of Jesus.”

This place makes me very sad I did not get any help from anyone. My advocate had no idea how to advocate my instructors 4 out of 5 did not have a clue how to instruct. The was so much drama between woman and staff as well. Getting anyone to listen to your questions concerns or anything for that matter was not made a priority and forgotten about. Girls slandering other girls kids treating other children poorly cuz of there race. Lots of gossip lots of hypocrisy lots of judgments. And not very much accountability or setting boundaries at all. The only boundaries that I witnessed was the staff putting up boundaries when u ask them for help. GOOD luck with the program. And yes they do play favorites and really don’t know what they are doing. Felt like a cult.

The right hand does not know what the left is doing. Inadequate training for volunteers. Unclear mission statement and their Christianity , being non denominational allows for almost heretical teachings from anyone who comes in to give spiritual input. Unlike Teen Challenge their Christian message is all over the board and the women are lacking in a stable christian foundation. Their recovery program sees women back often two to three times. Their are some very unhealthy boundary issues

Strength:The faith based programs and the accountability you are held to. weakness: The staff are not consistent and are not trained in dealing with people coming off drugs and that have mental issues also. It was a really great place when I went in 2 years ago but since then it has gone down hill they tend to play favorites and it seems as if the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. There is no consistency there and when someone truly needs the help and knows if they leave they will relapse the staff doesn't care I would definitely recommend looking into more caring and understanding facilities then Gospel rescue mission. I was once very proud of the work they did there but now I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
