    Addiction recovery does not end with discharge after completing a rehab program. Facilities that offer aftercare planning and/or support work with patients to ensure sustainable recovery by helping to plan and make arrangements for transitional or sober living, help with housing, vocational counseling, etc.

  • Kimberly Hoppes
    Kimberly HoppesClinical Director
    Kimberly Hoppes, PsyD, received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University in 1988. Prior to joining Hazelden as the clinical director, she was a clinical assistant professor in Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Medical Center and the clinical director of the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Treatment Program. In response to the specific challenges of dually-diagnosed patients, she has specialized in applying a mindfulness-based treatment protocol in her clinical work with addicted clients. This work has been published in an international neuropsychiatric journal and was presented at the Society for the Study of Addiction Annual Symposium in the United Kingdom.
