Maplegrove Center views addiction as a primary illness that impacts the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health of patients and their families. Addiction is a progressive illness that deteriorates health, compromises personal values, and affects our responsibilities as an adult, adolescent, spouse, parent, student, employee and participant in society. Inherited biological factors can influence addiction. However, addiction also develops over time as a result of social, physical and psychological influence. Without intervention, addiction becomes uncontrolled and potentially fatal.

Process Abuse Treatment
Not all addictions involve mood-altering chemicals. The term “process addiction” describes the unhealthy use of behaviors (including eating, gambling, sexual activity, shopping, internet use, etc.) that has spiraled out of control and into the realm of addiction.Residential Treatment
Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.
