Huntington Creek Recovery Center

890 Bethel Hill Road, Shickshinny, Pennsylvania, 18655
Clearbrook Lodge is a private, not-for-profit, sub-acute, freestanding Adolescent Inpatient Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Center serving PA, NY, NJ, CT, and the Northeast. This co-ed facility admits patients who are between 13 and 18 years old, and have sufficient hearing, speech, and verbal skills to effectively participate in the therapy offered. These candidates must be ambulatory and without psychiatric disorders which would prohibit their benefiting from the therapy, or would serve as an obstacle to other patients personal safety and recovery efforts.

Facility Highlights

  • Ropes Course - High and low ropse course used to help reinforce 12 step principles. Wether dependant.
  • Massage Therapy - assist the patient in becoming more pliable during detox
  • Biosound Feedback - Helps with de-escalation of agitation, sleep and anxiety issues

Specialization

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a highly specific, research-validated form of therapy that can help people overcome traumatic stress, anxiety and depression. With EMDR, a trained practitioner uses bilateral stimulation, eye movement and touch to stimulate parts of the brain as a patient recounts certain experiences and memories as a way to more thoroughly process uncomfortable, painful feelings.
  • Medical Detoxification

Drugs and alcohol have widespread effects throughout your body, including but not limited to the addiction and/or physical/psychological dependence that develops with substance abuse over time. Many organ systems are affected by addiction and will react to withdrawal. The term “medical detoxification” means that there is a trained and licensed medical professional onsite to monitor your vital signs and protect your physical and emotional health as your body goes through withdrawal.

Huntington Creek Recovery saved my daughter's life, in my opinion. She was down to 80 lbs and near death from multiple addictions, including iV heroin use, when she was driven down that 6 mile rural road in Shichshinny,, PA. Although we never gave up hope, she had. By the fourth day she called me. i was expecting 'pick me up', but instead, when i asked her how she was doing, she answered me "I feel great.. This place is amazing.' She even praised the food ....which helped her to reach a normal, healthy weight. She has not yet looked back, although i am not a Pollyanna and know the road to recovery is long and full of temptations. After 28 days, our daughter, restored to physical health and much improved emotionally , spiritually and in every way, went on to a sober living facility, where she continues her recovery.. i cannot thank God enough for this 12 step based program or for the dedication and inspiration she received from the clinical and technical staff. God bless this facility and the people who run it.

I went to HC for a 2 week alcohol Detox but they kicked me out after 6 days because they said I was a suicide risk (I wasn't) and sent me to Crisis at Wilkes Barre General. After spending 2.5 days there, I went to 1st Hospital (not a great place either). Anyway, I've managed to stay sober but that was in spite of HC--not because of it. I do not recommend!!

This is a fantastic place. They truely care and I can't thank them enough. If you have the opportunity and need help you can't go wrong here. It's been life changing for me. It's a small facility and it's like family. You won't be treated better anywhere else. I thank God everyday that I landed in such a caring wonderful and beautiful place.

AA program based. Behavioral Health is virtually nonexistent. The overall philosophy is, stop abusing and all your problems will go away. There is no psychiatrist or MD. The available counseling is unskilled and based on AA only!
