Akua Mind & Body
20271 SW BIRCH ST SUITE 200, Newport Beach, California, 92660
Psychodynamic, client-centered clinicians and trained therapists Holistic approach that truly honors the individual’s mind, body and spirit through yoga, reiki, harp, dream work, shadow work, and unconventional approaches which get to the heart of the pain and suffering of the addictive cycle. Family systems, codependency, trauma and inner child work helps clients detach from shame and identify origins of their low self-esteem or self-worth. Akua is a family that helps model a functional, healthy family to our clients. We choose our staff based on their ability to provide an environment of healing and compassion. We help clients run a healthy AA/12-step program of recovery by not “forcing” the principles on them, but helping them see how lacking the principle of the programs are what keeps them sick. We keep groups very small and process oriented to get to the root of their disease, instead of 20-30 in a group.

Specialization
Holistic Therapy
Facilities that offer “holistic therapy” see and treat patients in the context of their entire lives and health status. They treat the “whole person,” not just the addiction.Detox
Though not all rehab facilities offer “medical detoxification,” all people with an addiction to drugs or alcohol will experience intense physical and emotional changes and discomfort as their bodies react to withdrawal of the addictive substance. Many people use the term “detox” to refer to the period of time (ranging from a few days to a week) when the body is reacting to an addict’s decision to stop using.
