Medical University of South Carolina’s Institute of Psychiatry’s Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs (CDAP) provides a comprehensive continuum of inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment services to chemically dependent individuals struggling with substance abuse. Through a clinical, evidence-based approach to addiction treatment, CDAP provides individuals with medically assisted detoxification, Buprenorphine medication monitoring and maintenance, and individual and intensive outpatient treatment services. Therapeutic techniques provided include individual and group counseling, family programming, recovery skills education, cognitive behavioral therapy, 12-Step services, motivational interviewing, and more.

  • Outpatient
Outpatient treatment describes all addiction treatment that is not residential. Patients live at home while undergoing rehab.
  • Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
Patients who undergo intensive outpatient treatment continue to live at home and sometimes go to school or work while participating in a highly structured treatment protocol that is focused on ending substance abuse. Programs vary in terms of how much treatment patients receive, how often and for how long. Some facilities design individualized intensive outpatient treatment programs.

It is part of a leading medical hospital and it allows for your treatment to include your family. They really helped my loved one overcome their addition to alcohol and helped them through every step of recovery.

I had returned after a brief relapse that almost cost me my life. Going back to CDAP made me feel safe and allowed me to clear my head long enough to make a new plan and get things in order before I left. I am about to celebrate 4 years clean and sober in August. I am so thankful they were there for me. I now volunteer there as a peer counselor and I teach yoga to the detox patients on the weekends.
