Meet the Staff
Don BeckResidential Program DirectorWhile Don Beck has been a member of the New Roads staff for some time, he accepted the position of Clinical Director in October, 2011. Dr. Beck received his doctoral degree from the University of Utah in 1990. As a licensed psychologist, he has enjoyed a range of academic and clinical roles including residential treatment, private practice, hospital and clinic settings, and both graduate and undergraduate teaching. Dr. Beck worked with the Utah State Department of Health in Family Health Services for many years serving clients with medically related mental health concerns and their families. As Clinical Director, Don welcomes and enjoys the opportunity and privilege to work directly with clients and their families as well as cooperatively contribute to the overall quality of services New Roads Treatment Centers provides to the young adults courageously seeking positive changes in their lives. Dr. Beck and his wife recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. They have three adult children and two adorable grand daughters.
Eric SchmidtCEOEric Schmidt has worked in the behavioral health and substance abuse field for the past 20 years. He served primarily in key executive level positions for community-based behavioral health care/substance abuse treatment organizations. Eric boasts both a Masters of Science in Social Work and a Masters of Business Administration. Besides his business and administrative success, Eric, as a Licensed Mental Health Therapist, personally provides a variety of clinical services, such as individual, group, and family treatment, diagnostic assessments, and psychosocial assessments utilizing a range of techniques and theoretical designs. Further, Eric is adjunct faculty for the University of Utah School of Social Work, where he teaches a variety of clinical and professional development courses. He has utilized marketing, sales, and management skills to dramatically amplify revenues and operations for many of the agencies for which he has worked. He is excited to be at the helm of New Roads.
