Northwest Behavioral Healthcare Services

18000 Webster Rd, Gladstone, Oregon, 97027
Northwest Behavioral Healthcare Services provides help to families and residential treatment for adolescents (ages 12 to 17) with emotional, behavioral, or substance abuse problems. The staff of Northwest has shown itself to be successful with those more "difficult to treat" --- especially those with a dual diagnosis who require a secure setting for their care. The goal of Northwest's adolescent treatment program is simple --- to make kids well so that they can have a meaningful and satisfying life --- to achieve their own unique level of greatness. That takes patience, compassion, discipline, and understanding. Along with competent professionals, it also takes a diligent parent. Working together, there is hope.

Facility Highlights

  • Recreation Therapy

Specialization

  • Holistic Therapy

Facilities that offer “holistic therapy” see and treat patients in the context of their entire lives and health status. They treat the “whole person,” not just the addiction.
  • Eating Disorder Treatment

Many mental health professionals view eating disorders (including anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder, along with other dysfunctional eating patterns) as a food addiction – in that food is used in ways other than as fuel or a source of pleasure. Some, but not all, addiction treatment programs include eating disorder treatment as part of the service menu. Also, an eating disorder may be a dual-diagnosis or a co-occurring disorder with drug or alcohol addiction.

As with any company, there are staff who work diligently and practice evidence based and appropriate trauma informed care. The owner's clear priorities are personal financial gain. Staff are not properly supported, trainings are never updated, investments in staff and facilities are withheld. Clients do not have access to healthy food options, conflicts are often ignored, and therapy groups often include clients watching movies all day. I would not recommend this facility to anyone, and especially not for long term mental health care or addiction treatment.

Just started to type my reviews and I\'m already getting emotional. I was once a client here after countless attempts to get sober and stay sober. I\'ve been to treatment several time. But northwest really did it for me. I lost myself in drugs and found myself again in northwest. I will never forget my experience I had here. It changed my life and gave me a whole new perspective on things. Coming into northwest I was a Heroin addict with little hope and little want in my heart to get clean. When I arrived, I was not happy. They took away my shoes, gave my a strip search and took away all my freedom I had taken for granted. I hated it at the time, but it straightened me out and kept me sober. The staff that work there are amazing and I will forever be thankful for them. Today i have been sober for 13months and do not plan on going back out what so ever. This place opened my eyes and gave me hope. It gave me tools that I will continue to use for the rest of my life.

I just want to say how grateful we are. When our daughter first started, I read testimonials and couldn’t imagine being where those parents were at the end of her stay. And here we are, weeks after she left the program, and the change has been profound. Other reviewers are right in commenting that it isn’t the Hilton, but it seems that they focus their resources on people/staff, and it has paid off in their program’s results.

I was a patient there around 2007. I was a crazy kid, with crazy hair, a bad outlook, and a whole mess of problems. When I came to Northwest, I was eating every drug I got my hands on. I hurt myself, and hated what I saw when I looked in the mirror. While my stay was not my choice, it turned out to be what saved my life. And for that, I say thank you. Thank you to everyone there that put up with me, and pulled me through my darkest days. It was a day to day struggle that put a lot of strain on all parties involved. But in the end I felt that I was really cared for. When I left, I felt like I really mattered to people, and most important I mattered to myself. My heart goes out to all the staff there at Northwest, and to all the young people who are where I once was. Now days, while I still have crazy hair, I live a happy and sober life. Married and a college graduate, I\'m in a place that was made possible by the hands of all the staff at Northwest. I\'m thankful for them every day.
