Specialization

  • Holistic Therapy

Facilities that offer “holistic therapy” see and treat patients in the context of their entire lives and health status. They treat the “whole person,” not just the addiction.
  • Family Program

Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.

This was my first rehab experience. I wish I would have gone somewhere else. The appalling lack of professionalism of the staff still haunts me over a year later. The facilities are run-down, and if you think you will be fed well, you are mistaken. If you are used to living on the streets or in prison, perhaps the canned-everything, high sodium, food-bank, war rations-type food will suit you. The staff does go to the store one day a week for the facility and clients, and if you give them money, they are supposed to buy what you request. Unfortunately they will often claim that they "couldn't find" what you asked and paid for, only because they didn't want to bother to look for something they are not used to, like frozen vegetables, of all things! It is also not supposed to be faith-based, but there is a monstrous heap of their god/Jesus talk. For someone who has no god-belief, this can be very alienating, especially because of the bullying that occurs if you don't believe as the others do, or you don't bow your head when they pray. If you mention any other recovery program, such as SMART or Rational Recovery, they look at you like you have 3 heads. It's 12-step all the way for them, and don't you dare suggest otherwise. If you are higher on the narcissism or sociopath spectrum, you will fit in very well here. Avoid this place if you have a long history of trauma, Complex PTSD, or Autism Spectrum Disorder. If you are not used to being around ill-mannered swine, you will be in for a profound shock. Don't say you weren't warned.
