Springbrook Autism Behavioral

My only concern is the medical staff! The nurses do not respond in a timely fashion nor are they familiar with the patients who have medical conditions! Some of the assistants are not as pleasant to some because they have a no nonsense mentality. The food isn’t the best but it’s not the worst either. They try to incorporate things we like with healthy choices! The social workers and therapist are the most fantastic part of Springbrook! So overall was my experience great no….but I got the help I needed and met some great people and professionals along the way!

Springbrook is a nightmare and staff there care nothing about the patients. The night shift were incredibly rude and I was afraid to approach them most of the time for fear of being yelled at. They wore dirty, ragged clothes and mostly stayed on their cell phones. I only saw a “doctor” there the first day I was admitted and had a different doctor’s name (whom I never saw) on my ID Bracelet. They never explained the changes they were making to my medications. This was during the height of COVID and people were not tested prior to admission although one man came in with known positive COVID , as per the aides and he was allowed to wander around the general population and no one enforced mask wearing. The building was disgustingly filthy, floors never cleaned, surfaces not wiped down. Although they said the cafeteria was closed due to COVID, we all sat in the TV room elbow to elbow and ate from styrofoam containers. If you care about your loved one, STAY AWAY from this place.

I was in Springbrook for one week and the doctors and nurses are a joke. The food was actually halfway decent but I did see a roache. The social worker that I had was horrible. She should not be allowed to work with people who really have problems. She did nothing for me and talked to me like I was a piece of crud and was VERY RUDE. Honestly she should never be allowed to work with people who are wanting and needed help. Although there was an older lady that was very good at her job as a social worker. I observed her working with her patients and was caring and went out of her way to do whatever was asked of her. If you love someone do not send them to Springbrook. If you want them to get help send them somewhere else.

My friend is in there now, she begged me for help because she felt that she is a threat to herself, her two children and her mother. She has been in and out of institutions most of her adult life. I think she likes the vacation she gets. She has told me she still feels like a threat and needs long term care where she can be in a controlled environment. She has never had to answer to anyone besides her mother and now she has others to answer to. She is lying to her therapist and I have tried to communicate that to the therapist. She choses to believe my friend and I think the reason is that she has Medicare and Medicaid and its time to send her out. People, mental healthcare is not for the poor. It is for those who have insurance or plenty of money. I think she needs to be transferred to another facility that has more experienced people that can see through manipulation. They want to send her home!!! I talk to my friend on the phone and her story remains consistent with me and has not changed. But the Springbrook staff choses not to believe anyone other than the one that needs mental stability. Should they release her to home instead of to a more intense treatment facility I will forever hold these people responsible for anything that may happen to her family. I feel helpless now and I thought I was helping her when she reached out to me. Her kind of behavior does not change in a short period of time. The staff decides her readiness based on her insurance payor.

Everything, made me feel more crazy. People could pay workers to use their cell phones, night guards slept on their job.
