St. Gregory Retreat Centers offer gender-specific, evidence-based substance abuse rehabilitation through residential and outpatient programs. Treatment options are “empowerment-based” rather than shackled to the 12-Steps, and aim to address the underlying biological, psychological, social and spiritual causes of addiction. Treatment at St. Gregory includes detoxification, cognitive behavior therapy, chemical imbalance repair, life skills coaching and aftercare.

The focus of cognitive behavioral therapy (also called CBT) is helping people to understand the thoughts and emotions that underlie their addiction with the goal of learning new, healthier and more productive ways to understand and express themselves.Intensive Outpatient
Patients who undergo intensive outpatient treatment continue to live at home and sometimes go to school or work while participating in a highly structured treatment protocol that is focused on ending substance abuse. Programs vary in terms of how much treatment patients receive, how often and for how long. Some facilities design individualized intensive outpatient treatment programs.

As a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Medicine and Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicince, Dr. Angel has a special relationship with Iowa and has cared for patients suffering from dependence and addiction for years.
