Steps Recovery Center believes in treating a person as a whole and identifying the underlying root causes that lead to addiction. We believe that if we focus on healing on the level of mind, body and spirit we can individualize a treatment plan accordingly. The path of each person to addiction is as unique as the person themself, so the treatment must be equally as unique. Our approach is to begin with detox and focus on getting any and all substances out of the body and stabilizing physically. Next, through numerous clinical and psychiatric assessments we evaluate and establish a treatment plan suited to personal, familial and medical needs. Our program encompasses medical, clinical and psychiatric practices with group and individual sessions. We offer and provide case management support with step down to our day treatment or outpatient programs with supportive, sober living housing as well.

Specialization

  • Dual Diagnosis/Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment
These two terms describe a person who is not only addicted to drugs or alcohol, but also has a mental or emotional illness, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. Facilities that treat patients with dual-diagnosis or co-occurring disorders provide psychiatric treatment in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation services.
  • Intensive Out Patient (IOP)
Patients who undergo intensive outpatient treatment continue to live at home and sometimes go to school or work while participating in a highly structured treatment protocol that is focused on ending substance abuse. Programs vary in terms of how much treatment patients receive, how often and for how long. Some facilities design individualized intensive outpatient treatment programs.
  • Medical Detoxification
Drugs and alcohol have widespread effects throughout your body, including but not limited to the addiction and/or physical/psychological dependence that develops with substance abuse over time. Many organ systems are affected by addiction and will react to withdrawal. The term ā€œmedical detoxificationā€ means that there is a trained and licensed medical professional onsite to monitor your vital signs and protect your physical and emotional health as your body goes through withdrawal.
  • Holistic Therapy
Facilities that offer ā€œholistic therapyā€ see and treat patients in the context of their entire lives and health status. They treat the ā€œwhole person,ā€ not just the addiction.

ABOUT STEPS RECOVERY

Steps Recovery Centers provide residential, outpatient (OP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment for men and women seeking treatment for substance abuse. Based approximately 60 miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah, the program’s Payson location runs ā€œsocial detoxā€ –– a peer-supported recovery that does not involve medical monitoring, though clients may bring prescribed Suboxone as a taper. Within the state, 27.2 percent of treatment centers in Utah provide residential treatment.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Steps Recovery Center's treatment programs rely heavily on the 12-Steps for a more holistic approach and are divided into three distinct stages. Within the state, 66.1 percent of Utah facilities use the 12-step method. In the first stage, intervention and social detox, clients support one another in a highly structured non-medical setting.

In the next stage –– diagnosis and customized care––clients have access to various inpatient and outpatient treatment options, depending on their personal needs and circumstances. Programming combines individual, group, and family therapy with an impressive array of seasonal recreational, holistic and experiential therapies, including yoga, equine therapy, a ropes course, hiking, solo camping, skiing, canoeing, tai chi, and rock climbing.

The third and final stage consists of lifelong access to aftercare, including a promise that anyone who relapses may return to treatment free of charge. Alumni polled by Rehabs.com reported staying in treatment between 30 to 90 days, which makes it one of the 63 (26.4 percent) long-term treatment facilities in Utah.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The Payson facility’s staff includes a Ph.D.-level licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), a recreation therapist, a case manager, and a sober living counselor. The Payson facility maintains a staff-to-client ratio of 3:1. It is a part of the 26.8 percent of treatment facilities in Utah accredited by the Joint Commission.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

In a residential neighborhood facing Utah’s Loafer Mountain, the Payson facility hosts up to 30 residents in private rooms and features a basketball court and a ropes course. This facility is amazing. I came here once in 2017 and again in 2020. The program has evolved and is absolutely spectacular as of 2020. I can’t describe the feeling of home that I felt walking through the doors. The clients and staff were so welcoming. The treatment program was above and beyond. From the psychiatric care to the therapists and case managers. They created a plan just for me and I have never felt as good and confident in my sobriety as I do now. I owe my life to Steps Recovery.

I checked into this facility July of 2017, I was lied to right from the beginning. I was in and out of the hospital because of medical issues detoxing. When my husband would call to check on me they would lie to him. The counselors with 1 exception were terrible as well as the staff. Rude doesn’t even began to describe the staffs attitudes. My meds were ALWAYS messed up. When I went back to pick up my belongings because they wouldn’t take me back after my last hospital visit my stuff (what I did get back) was thrown into black trash bags (including my glasses). I'd NEVER seen such a crappy way to treat people with the exception of jail. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. SO glad Steps kicked out so I found a great rehab that actually showed compassion and love to help me be clean and sober today!!!
