Specialization

  • Family Program
Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness, or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
The focus of cognitive behavioral therapy (also called CBT) is helping people understand the thoughts and emotions that underlie their addiction with the goal of learning new, healthier, and more productive ways to understand and express themselves.
  • Residential Treatment
Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.
  • Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
Patients who undergo intensive outpatient treatment continue to live at home and sometimes go to school or work while participating in a highly structured treatment protocol that is focused on ending substance abuse. Programs vary in terms of how much treatment patients receive, how often and for how long. Some facilities design individualized intensive outpatient treatment programs.

Rehabs 360 Guide

ABOUT SUNRISE HOUSE

Sunrise House remains open and committed to providing critical addiction treatment during the Coronavirus pandemic. As per the updated CDC guidelines, patients who are vaccinated may not need to quarantine upon admissions. Those who are vaccinated against COVID-19 should bring their vaccination cards to the facility when they enter treatment. COVID-19 testing at Sunrise House remains available, and the facility is accepting both vaccinated and unvaccinated patients.

Situated on 22 acres in the mountains of Sussex County, N.J., Sunrise House provides a tranquil setting for addiction recovery and behavioral health disorders. The center provides residential, intensive outpatient (IOP), and general outpatient programs for adults, as well as medically supervised detox, for those clients who require it — positioning Sunrise House among just 4.1 percent of New Jersey-based, non-hospital residential centers that offers medical detox. Founded in 1983, Sunrise House began operation under American Addiction Centers in 2015.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The program begins with a comprehensive assessment of the client’s medical history, followed by detox, if necessary, which typically lasts five to seven days. The residential program typically lasts 90 days, and uses evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI) alongside 12-step facilitation.

Therapy is conducted in individual, group, and family settings, and specialized treatment is available for gender-specific concerns, LGBTQ-specific treatment, and trauma (which is treated at 46.2 percent of New Jersey-based facilities). As well as treatment sessions, clients attend educational and motivational lectures and programming on preventing relapse.

Clients who complete the residential program can progress through the complete continuum of care, beginning with an IOP that meets for three hours at a time, between three and seven days a week. The IOP is offered in the daytime or the evening, to suit a variety of schedules. In standard outpatient care, clients meet for one or two hours a week, as needed.

All clients leave treatment with a comprehensive aftercare plan, including recommendations for further care, contact details for local sobriety resources, and membership in the American Addiction Centers alumni network. And under the AAC brand promise, all clients who complete the 90-day residential program can come back for a further 30-day stay free of charge if they relapse.

Excellent and knowledgeable councilors, very helpful staff. The majority of the stay was filled with a variety of topics to help with treatment, only on a few occasions was there lack of communication and planning among staff to coordinate meetings, but they were few and far inbetween. They work with you to let you know your options for aftercare as well to not leave you completely without additional treatment when you are finished

Groups could've been more organized, there were multiple times where nobody showed up to run groups and that was very frustrating, meals weren't always cooked fully or hot enough. Other than that I met some great people here.
