Tara Treatment Center provides a holistic approach to substance abuse treatment, promoting mental, physical and spiritual health. Combining 12-Step programs with evidence-based therapy, Tara offers treatment services such as detoxification, residential programs, outpatient care, anger management, individual and group counseling, and relapse prevention and coping strategies to encourage lifelong recovery.

Specialization
Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
Patients who undergo intensive outpatient treatment continue to live at home and sometimes go to school or work while participating in a highly structured treatment protocol that is focused on ending substance abuse. Programs vary in terms of how much treatment patients receive, how often and for how long. Some facilities design individualized intensive outpatient treatment programs.Aftercare Support
Addiction recovery does not end with discharge after completing a rehab program. Facilities that offer aftercare planning and/or support work with patients to ensure sustainable recovery by helping to plan and make arrangements for transitional or sober living, help with housing, vocational counseling, etc.

- James D. Kozarek, M.D.Medical DirectorDr. Kozarek has been Tara’s Medical Director since June 1996. He is a graduate from the University of Wisconsin Medical School. Licensure and Certification: Dr. Kozarek is a Board-Certified Family Physician. Professional Affiliations: Dr. Kozarek is a member of the Indiana Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Board of Family Practice. Dr. Kozarek is affiliated with the Johnson Memorial Hospital, Franklin, Indiana and the Columbus Regional Hospital, Columbus, Indiana.
- Brian K. Nichelson, PH.D., HSPP, LCACClinical DirectorDr. Nichelson has been Tara’s Clinical Director since 1995. He received his Ph.D. from Indiana State University in 1991. Licensure and Certification: He obtained a Certificate of Proficiency in the treatment of alcohol and psychoactive substance use disorders in December 1997 from the American Psychological Association, and is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor. Dr. Nichelson is endorsed as a Health Service Provider in Psychology and is licensed as a Psychologist by the Board of Examiners in Psychology by the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau. Professional Affiliations: Dr. Nichelson is a member of the American Psychological Association, Indiana Psychological Association and the Allied Health Staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Franklin, Indiana.
