The Haven Detox- Florida Alcohol & Drug Rehab

Anyone who sincerely wants help needs to go anywhere but here. I have been to treatment twice and have never seen such unprofessionalism and greed. They forced me to stay 2 days after I was set to discharge and said I could leave but couldn't take my wallet or phone. This place is in Florida and I live in Michigan, so they were basically throwing me out on the street. I just called my insurance and found I was billed for labs that were never done and for medications I never received. There is seriously something going on at this place. Again, please, if you are serious about your recovery, try anywhere but here. Thanks, Brian

I recently was treated for alcohol detox at The Haven in Florida. I set residential treatment in Michigan. I had completed detox before and was familiar with the process. Once I found that the bed in MI would only be available until 08/17, I stopped taking prescribed Valium 3 days early to ensure release due to liability purposes. I was cleared for release by the doctor and therapist. I was told I also had to clear it with the manager Justin. Justin told me i could not be released until 08/18 due to meds. I explained I had stopped 3 days prior. He explained as long as i was prescribed, it didn't matter. I knew this was an outright lie and a scheme to bilk insurance for more money. I spoke with their own doctor who confirmed I was correct. I let Justin know this the following day and he told me they would throw me out without a phone or wallet for two days knowing i had no where to go. I truly believe this place is fraudulent and Justin, the manager should be investigated/fired. They are not about health what so over. I saw one person overdose and another that was clearly not in good shape discharged early because his insurance was denied. i understand businesses need to make money, but it should never be at the cost of someone's health/life. There are much better alternatives out there folks, as i have went through treatment before. As others had stated, I have been to jail once due to a drunk driving charge years ago and they are correct, it is complete gangster thug accomodations. I personally witnessed a fist fight and rap music was played 24/7.

Stay far away!!! They make this place sounds luxury but it\'s far from luxury. The chef only cooks what he wants and you have to eat that. They kept me so doped up I slept the entire time. They did not have a pool. That\'s a lie. No fun activities. They will not give you anything that belongs to you for 48 hours if you decide to leave. So if to are from out of town you will not be able to call a taxi buy a hotel room you will just be in a strange city with no place to go or way to call. I wanted to watch TV but could not stay awake. Three days later and they were not accommodating me as they promised to allow me to do my school work so I failed

My stay at Haven was wonderful, all of the staff are amazing, rooms are awesome and the food is top notch, seriously can’t say enough good things about Haven. Thank you for all the love.

Let me give you the real deal. Staff is AWESOME. The food/meals are INCREDIBLE. Outside of that, this place is a joke! It's like a jail. You are NOT allowed your own cigarettes, rather they give you a pack per day of THEIR cigarettes OR you can get 1 Juul pod per day. It's one or the other, and no, you cannot bring your own vape. You aren't even allowed to hold onto your own lighter. You need to borrow one from a staff member and immediately return it upon lighting your cigarette. The clients here??? OMG.... Sit and listen to gangsta rap, thug music in the main living areas as loud as the TV's can possibly go. Constantly talk about how many times they've been to jail/prison, how they can't wait to get out and use (most people here are court ordered to be here.) I understand they have some sort of agreement with drug courts in place. A lot of the people I was there with are active gang members and from what I was told by staff, this is very common. A lot of guys are extremely violent and ready to fight at a moments notice. Total thugs. You are allowed two phone calls while here. 1 "safety call" when you arrive to inform someone that you are there and then 1 "pick up" call when you are being discharged (paroled.) The rooms are OK. Beds not so comfortable but could be worse and all rooms are doubles, very small and no single rooms. You CANNOT keep your own toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant or any other toiletries. They give you a "care package" that consists of LITERALLY a "state jail" issued style toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. They over-medicate you as much as possible to keep you as long as possible in order to maximize profits. My personal recommendation... STAY FAR FAR AWAY. Do your research. There are so many FAR better places where you can keep your own stuff, including cell phones, laptops, toiletries, cigarettes, lighters, etc. The ONLY plus' for this place is the chefs and the vast majority of the staff. They are truly caring people and these "rules" are clearly from the top down. I wouldn't go here again if it was the last place on earth.
