Turning Point Chemical Dependency Treatment Center consists of two separate campuses, both located in Franklin, Pennsylvania. The main campus is located on 24 wooded acres overlooking the Allegheny River. The cornerstone building on this campus, Assisi Hall, was originally the mansion of a lumber baron and was built in the 1890’s. The detoxification unit and men’s short and long-term treatment programs are located on this campus. The detoxification unit is licensed for 14 clients, and the treatment program can accommodate 54 males.

Specialization

  • Medical Detoxification
Drugs and alcohol have widespread effects throughout your body, including but not limited to the addiction and/or physical/psychological dependence that develops with substance abuse over time. Many organ systems are affected by addiction and will react to withdrawal. The term “medical detoxification” means that there is a trained and licensed medical professional onsite to monitor your vital signs and protect your physical and emotional health as your body goes through withdrawal.
  • 12-Step
The term “12 Step Program” describes a way to recover from addiction that is based on the model developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. Many drug and alcohol treatment centers base their treatment on 12 steps – the first three of which are situational, the next four addressing the practical issues created by the addiction, followed by two steps focused on making amends for hurting others. Steps 10 and 11 involve a deeper examination of the previous steps and the final step is focused on helping others avoid and recover from addiction.

I have been ten months clean thanks in big part to Turning Point. I had a great counselor and the staff was friendly and helpful. All things considered especially everything with COVID I feel that the problem isn’t with the facility but with the mindset of the people they are trying to help. Recovery is there but YOU have to want it. There were maybe 12 people while I was there that wanted a different life and utilized the tools that were given there . The rest were just there because they had to be . Yes, there were problems and while I was there I tried to bring those things to the attention of the staff in a kind and supportive manner instead of grumbling and complaining constantly. The food was excellent and the facility was clean .

A dear friend of mine was a very recent employee at the facility. Due to some new health issues that had affected her, her physician ordered her a light duty status. They denied her that at the facility! Would not try and accommodate her so she could continue to be a good employee for the facility. As a former employee i know there is tons of things to do on a light duty status. Shame on you all! Mr. Joe Chontos would be rolling in his grave if he knew how his once owned facility is being run. Shame on you all 😠

The MOST unstructured, chaotic waste of time I have ever experienced. Clients were provided no education about the disease of addiction. There was no instruction about triggers and pre-crisis warning signs. No coping skills for the real world outside of Turning Point were taught. Many residents did use the huge amounts of free time to tell war stories, and glorify their drug usage. Turning Point doesn't need to revise their Treatment Program; they HAVE NO TREATMENT PROGRAM.

One of the nurses is the best! If it wasn't for her I would of left many times!!! She should be running the place! She's the only one that cares and she was also an addict and she will tell you about her struggles. Thank you!!!
