About Victory Bay

Victory Bay is a behavioral health treatment center in New Jersey that offers effective outpatient treatment for substance abuse, mental health, and eating disorders. Our environment is welcoming and safe so people can recover and heal from trauma. We maintain small caseload sizes, which allows counselors to give the individualized attention clients desire. Counselors are trained in traditional therapies for the treatment, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Psychiatric services are regularly available to assist in managing any co-occurring disorders Group therapy is a primary treatment modality, but we aim to hold small group sessions. Individual therapy is also provided weekly, allowing for consistent attention to treatment goals. These private sessions allow for trust and rapport to be built with one’s counselor and the opportunity to explore concerns they may not be able to explore in group sessions. We recognize the importance of family who may also participate in therapy with their loved ones as requested. In addition, we offer case management services and support because we recognize that individuals have careers, health issues, and education needs that require attention.

Areas of Specialization
  • Intensive Outpatient
Our Intensive Outpatient Program in South Jersey focuses on community integration and relapse prevention. Victory Bay offers two Intensive Outpatient options: IOP-5 and IOP- 3. The IOP-5 program is five days per week and averages 2-3 weeks in length, depending on a client’s progress and needs. IOP-3 is a step down from IOP-5. IOP-3 consists of three half day group and individual therapy sessions per week. These flexible outpatient addiction treatment programs give clients the opportunity to gain and maintain stability and sobriety within their communities. While in IOP, it is common that a person will be working a part time job or going to school. IOP schedules can be very flexible, allowing each person to work their personal life around their therapy. Commonly, a person will still be going to IOP when they are a resident in a sober living home. Rather than being spit right back into life with a few coping skills, IOP creates a smooth transition from treatment to full time work or school.
  • Outpatient
This treatment is usually combined with other treatment methods or as follow-up support. Therapy and counseling along with once a week group, can help you identify the root cause of your drug use, repair relationships and learn healthier coping skills. Treatment includes behavioral therapy, group or individual therapy, and family counseling, as well as didactic educational session.
  • Older Adults Treatment System
Our Older Adults Treatment Program is a mature approach to your recovery. Group therapy sessions with like-minded adults focus on topics such as: -Work/life balance -Return to career -Recovery and family -Managing physical health -Chronic pain -Poor health -Physical disabilities -Bereavement and grief -Social isolation -Unexpected/forced retirement -Avoidance coping skills -Transitions in living situations Clients have access to the substance abuse treatment programs and resources that are so effective at Victory Bay: -Assigned to an individual therapist for one-on-one, individualized care -Full access to a case manager -Psychiatric services -The Older Adults Treatment System track will be available in both Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Outpatient (OP) programs.
  • EMDR
Often, patients that are being treated for addiction carry trauma that has contributed to the initiation or continuation of their substance use. Trauma can also be yet another consequence of active addiction and compounds the challenge of reaching long-term sobriety. At Victory Bay we offer a range of therapeutic trauma practices. We are proud to offer eye movement desensitization reprocessing or "EMDR" therapy. EMDR focuses on reliving potentially traumatic experiences while being guided by your therapist. Over time, working with one of our EMDR trained therapists can lessen the traumatic impact in your life from specific events that may be causing distress and blocking you from moving forward to a life of freedom in recovery.
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy, or "CBT" is based on the idea that our thoughts can shape the way we act and feel. Victory Bay is pleased to staff therapists who are trained specifically in this theoretical model. Utilizing trauma focused-CBT, the thoughts that are associated with traumatic experiences are evaluated and reshaped to more effectively manage the emotions and behaviors tied to said events, while developing more accurate and adaptive views of themselves, others, and the community in which they live. Working with your therapist over time can lead to less negative association with the way past events have been perceived, and move towards a positive, healthy outlook on your new life.
  • Stress Management
This can also be looked at as the holistic treatment of addiction. Our stress management approach introduces patients to activities with the intention of learning and practicing mindfulness. Such activities include music therapy, art therapy, yoga, fitness, reiki, meditation, and nutrition. We are constantly expanding our offerings in this area to ensure patients have exposure to stress management techniques that fit their individual needs. These techniques provide strategies and tools to help patients manage life on life’s terms as they reengage into their communities as active and sober participants.
  • 12 Steps
At Victory Bay, we believe that immersing yourself into a 12-step community is integral to your long term success in recovery. Patients are required to attend 12-step groups daily and often choose to do so with peers, furthering their recovery relationships and local support network.

I’ve done plenty of IOPs in my days, but Victory Bay was by far the best in terms of structure and staff. They helped teach me accountability and helped me grow into the man I am today. I celebrated two years a few months ago. I am forever grateful for my time in VB.

this place saved my life. I've never been to a place that cared more than everyone who works here does.

Although the change has to come from within VBRC has shown, and given me, all the tools necessary in realizing my full potential. They have encouraged me in all the positive aspects of my life but have not catered to the negative ones. Even though it's been a bumby and confusing ride (as trying to get and stay clean always is) they have never turned their backs on me. Being alone and far from home can be terrifying, however, I've never felt more loved and welcome than I have in this program, a home away from home. This is personal to them. The bumby ride progressively got smoother and I am now graduating the program today and coming up on 9 months sober. I feel free and full of ambitions and dreams, something I have never been able to say or experience in my entire life. It is incredibly exciting. I owe an immense part of that to them. When I asked what I could do to show some sort of gratitude for this service. I was told to go help someone else who's struggling. And that's really what this whole thing is all about to them. Thanks guys, I know we'll stay in touch!

Victory Bay treatment center provided the recovery sanctuary necessary to heal and acquire a strong foothold on the path to long term sobriety. While residing at victory Bay my 18 year old daughter received the support of their recovery community and individual counseling. needed to create new healthy coping and living skills. With the guidance of the program at victory bay my daughter has had the opportunity to discover herself and uncover a desire to live a life she never knew existed. After completing the program I received a phone call from her that sums up the potential for success " Hi mom, I just want to let you know how happy I am, I never knew I could feel this way . I was so sick I didn't realize it , I just didn't care about anything, I now have a desire to live to have dreams and goals I want to achieve. I'm so sorry that I was so awful to you , thank you for loving me . I love you so much." thank you Victory Bay for restoring.my child's life.
