Elms-Women'S Recovery Association
The Elms, San Mateo, California, 94401
The Women’s Recovery Association exists to instill hope for a quality of life that includes becoming a successful, productive and healthy member of society. We specialize in services for women with co-occurring disorders in all programs. Since its inception in 1970, WRA has been continuously driven by a commitment to helping women struggling with the ravages of substance abuse and the collateral damage that inevitably accompanies the abuse. This commitment is reflected in our vision, mission and core values, but – even more importantly – it is embedded in the daily operations of the agency.

Family Program
Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.Outpatient
Outpatient treatment describes all addiction treatment that is not residential. Patients live at home while undergoing rehab.
